Givenchy Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1997, Alexander McQueens debut Haute Couture collection for the house of Givenchy. This collection was deemed unsuccessful by french press and Karl Lagerfeld dismissed Alexander McQueen as a ‘Damien Hirst type of shock artist’ despite this Alexander McQueen remained as the Head Designer of Givenchy for 5 years, and left the house in 2001 to focus solely on his own brand.
As you can see from this particular creation, even in Alexander McQueens earlier work birds acted as a vital source of inspiration.
